- BNI Q&A
|
- We asked the following questions
to several BNI members to find out how trade is working for them.
Let us introduce you to these members if you have not had the
pleasure of doing business with them.

- 1) ln what
ways do you use your trade dollars?
I use it mostly all for business. I' e had my Bed Breakfast painted,
and an electrician to do some repairs & installation of a
ceiling fan. I've had my personal & corporate income taxes
prepared, carpet installation, and graphic design work for my
brochures, letterhead, business cards and envelopes.
-
- 2) What is
the most exciting thing you have purchased on trade?
I am very excited about the graphic design work done by Jennifer
August of Psychagraphics. Her work has enhanced the image of
my Bed & Breakfast and is sure to give me an edge over my
competition.
-
- 3) What benefits
have you experienced as a result of trading through BNI?
- Barter members
have referred cash business to me. That has already happened
several times. I am thrilled with the exposure I receive at the
inn when my rooms would otherwise be empty. My broker, Carrie
Cooper is wonderful. For example, during a slow weekend, one
phone call to Carrie Cooper produced 4 filled room nights!
-
- 4) What advice
do you have for business owners that are not currently bartering?
- For members
in the network that aren't using it to their full potential,
their first phone call should be to their broker before they
pay cash. The resources in the network are so vast, it's hard
for an individual business owner to really know them all. For
anyone not part of BNI, why pay cash when you have the ability
to barter and save your cash flow? I just wish I was on barter
the first day I opened my doors of the B&B. It would have
kept me from digging into my pockets and paying cash for everything.

- Occupation: Accountant
- Member since:
August 1997
-
- 1) In what ways do you use
your trade dollars?
- All ways. Any way possible.
I've used it for home improvements, dining at restaurants, vacations
and travel, auto repair, golf, etc.
-
-
- 2) What is the most exciting
thing you have purchased on trade?
- My air conditioner! I had my
central air and heating system unit installed. That was a great
savings for me. And I especially enjoyed bartering for a Super
box at the Phillies vs. Cincinnati Reds game and the limo ride
up and back to Philadelphia with 13 people!
-
- 3) What benefits have you
experienced as a result of trading through BNI?
- I've benefited from meeting
a diverse network of people through the mixers and the Holiday
Tradeshow as well as through reading the newsletters and the
New Member Update Lists. That's how I learn about a lot of new
businesses in the area.
-
-
-
-
- 4) What advice do you have
for business owners that are not currently bartering?
- One way to increase your revenue
is to join Barter Network. Since I have been bartering it has
provided me an avenue of revenue for business expenses that are
normal day to day operating expenses that I would normally pay
cash for. It took me a while to understand that barter dollars
are money. These dollars can be used in numerous ways for business
or personal use.

and great getaways in Rehoboth Beach, specifically the Sussex
House B & B.
-
- 3) What benefits have you
experienced as a result of trading through BNI?
- The new friendships I have established
in the surrounding business community have helped me gain exposure
for my business for a larger client base. And by advertising
through BNI, not only has my cash business increased but my repeat
clientele have spread positive recommendations throughout the
community.
-
- 4) What advice do you have
for business owners that are not currently bartering?
- Wake up & smell the coffee
because bartering is the wave of the future!

You Missed A Great Barter Mixer!
|
Here's a picture of a few of the
attendees that made our last mixer on June 14th at the Olde Canal
Inn. Thanks to "Eggie" from Conective Power who was
nearby doing some utility work, we were able to take advantage
of his bucket truck for an aerial shot above the outdoor deck.
Thanks again Eggie! And thanks to those of you who joined us
for a great evening. By the way, our next mixer is not confirmed
yet, but we will be sure to let you know when it is! |
